Do you remember when I worked for Radenroro? Not only was that such a rewarding job but I learned so much about Indonesian culture. There's something so romantic about the detail that goes into their work, the beautiful threads and atheistic choices carried by these talented women, craftsmanship that takes 5-10 years to learn.

I was contacted by a woman in Indonesia who is creating an entire movement for the creation of Batik. From their website:

"We have a bigger vision by using #Batikday. We, as an Indonesian, has the responsibility to tell the world that we have National Batik Day.Batik flows with our blood, it is our identity, it is our pride. This time, It is our duty to spread it and let the whole world know. That is our mission! We long to see Batik known in the global world, not only being famous in its own home. That’s why we use #Batikday, a global language, a modest form of communication to bring our nation’s cultural heritage celebrated all across the world."

I'm so happy to be a part of this movement and to share this with you. Although I'm not Indonesian, I embrace culture and what culture stands for in different communities.

Thank you to everyone who created Batik Day and having me be a part of this amazing movement- to celebrate heritage and culture.

Plus, I can't wait to work this into my wardrobe. The color is absolutely killer.
