"Lights will guide you home And ignite your bones And I will try to fix you"

Flying 37,000 feet in the air, today on September 11th, and the song Fix You comes on my iPod, the moment of take off. I took out of my phone as the flag came into my viewpoint. My heart stirred.

Today marks 11 years since devastation changed our entire world. But putting aside what is factual, I choose to focus on what it did to us as a country. Put aside our mistakes and judgments, our faults and errors, we UNITED as a country. 9/11 marked a moment in time for us- to unite, to strengthen, to build.

Today I felt a strange calmness. I was only 13 when the Towers were attacked- but I knew it wasn't something to ignore. When we went to war, I was angry. When we continued to fight, I was livid. I've never been a political person but watching what happened to our country, happen, it stirred my youth.

I'll never understand what it is to hate the way people do, but I'll also never focus on that. I'm focusing on what brings happiness and honesty and compassion and forgiveness within this country and 9/11 happening, turned me into a person with wider eyes, a wider mind, and a ruthless spirit.

I won't forget. Ever.

"And the tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you can't replace When you love someone, but it goes to waste Could it be worse?"
